FAQ

FAQ:

 What is your return policy?

All sales are final. I am a small business, working by myself and can't accept refunds or exchanges unless there is something that is clearly my fault. I do my best to list pieces as accurately as possible with photos to match. If you need additional photos, videos, or details on a specific piece listed, please reach out before you decide to purchase.

Should you have questions about how to care for your piece, any issues, or need a repair of some kind - kindly reach out. Jewelry is meant to be worn - but it is your responsibility to care for it as you see fit.

If a ring can be sized, it will be noted in the listing. Please pay attention as some designs have a smaller range they can be sized, some not at all.

In the RARE event your piece arrives damaged, contact me immediately.

For all custom/bespoke work: all sales are always final.

How long do custom orders take?

This really all depends. I typically say the process could take 8-12 weeks - I'd rather surprise you and have it done sooner than have delays. Depending on the project, there are many steps involved for it to be completed. The design/consult is part of this timeline. It is helpful if you have a clear idea of what you're looking for, or a general idea so that I can help you through the process. If you need your custom piece by a certain date, please let me know when inquiring. A deposit is required to start the custom process and is non-refundable, and will go towards the cost of your finished piece.

Can I purchase your work anywhere besides your website?

My website is a great place to start. I sometimes do pop-up events which I announce to my email subscribers and on instagram. I am slowly finding my way to retail stores as well! You can find Vance Davidson Jewelry at:

*19 Hands Jewelry - Berkeley, CA

... and hoping to be in other shops soon. Stay tuned!

How do I care for my jewelry?

Jewelry is meant to be worn. I repeat, jewelry is meant to be worn. However, with wear comes responsibility. Jewelry can last many lifetimes if it is well cared for. Any/all damage that happens to your piece of jewelry under your care is your responsibility. We are not responsible for any lost, broken, cracked, chipped, or damaged stones/jewelry you have purchased from us once it has left the shop. If you invest in a more expensive piece, we recommend looking to have your piece insured (can be done in your homeowners insurance).

Be mindful of your day to day activity and how you wear your jewelry.

When in doubt, take it off. I work really hard to make sure the pieces released are made to last, but things can happen. We recommend  trying to keep your jewelry clean and free of chemicals such as lotions, oils, salves, perfumes, soaps, etc). Depending on the stone, some are porous and absorb these chemicals and it can change the nature of the stone (turquoise, opal, pearl especially).

*Turquoise and variscite can change color from heat/chemicals/etc. For example: if you're out on the beach and you put sunscreen on with your ring and lay in the sun, there is a STRONG likelihood your stone will change color. This is because these stones are porous and absorb oils (even naturally from your skin) and the heat intensifies it. Also don't wear them in chlorine.*

How do I clean my jewelry?

I am a big fan of dish soap (tiny bit of dawn) and warm water. Sometimes I use a soft toothbrush and delicately use to remove extra grit. Polishing cloths are a great way for a quick re-shine. If you need a deep clean and are unsure how to, feel free to reach out.

*turquoise/variscite/soft stones: repeated water and soap exposure will change the coloration and look of natural soft stones. over time, this could damage the stone. if you wish to keep it the way it is at time of purchase, keep it dry and remove whenever possible if washing your hands, showering, applying lotions, etc.
